Anjali Ameer hails from Thamarasserry, Kozhikode, Kerala. She was born in a traditional muslim family. She lost her mother at the age of one and her father few years ago. During her school days, she used to take part in youth festival. At the age of 19 years, she came to Bengaluru to pursue a degree in nursing. She worked in a call centre and beauty parlour. She underwent a surgery at the age of 20. Anjali lived with transgender communities in Coimbatore and Bengaluru.
Anjali started her career as model for various brands. She made her silver screen debut with the Raam’s ‘Perambu’ (tamil – malayalam bilingual) which stars Mammootty in lead role. She portrayed a unique character which appeared throughout the film. She was the celebrity guest for the 3-day international short film festival organised by the Oriental Film Society, Kozhikode.
She also inaugurated the news photography exhibition ‘Beyond Words’ organised by the lensmen of the Calicut Photo Journalist Forum. Anjali is being cast in the first of a series of films about the LGBT community made by 101india.com, a youth content portal. This film shows an inspiring story of Anjali, the struggles faced by her and how she successfully overcame it to become a ‘complete woman’.
