Manikandan R Achari is a young actor who made his film debut as Balan Chettan in ‘Kammatti Paadam’ directed by Rajeev Ravi. He has worked as a theatre artist with theatre groups like Bhasabheri and Lokadharmi.
Manikandan R Achari hails from Thoppil, Tripunithura. Born in a family of artists, he was addicted to theatre from his very young age. As a class VI dropout, has worked theatre since he was 11 years old. Manikandan learned theatre from ‘Theatre Lab’ and did lot of street plays. He was a part of the theatre troupes like Bhasabheri and Lokadharmi. Apart from being a theatre artist, Manikandan works at the Champakkara market.
Manikandan was active in theatre before getting the big break in the film industry. He was motivated by his theatre colleagues to attend the audition of Rajeev Ravi’s ‘Kammatti Paadam’. Manikadan made an explosive debut as Balan Chettan in ‘Kammatti Paadam’, which gained him lot of appreciation and recognition. Life changed for the 33 year old actor, a week after the release of the film.
He was showered with praise from different corners of the globe for his majestic acting in the film. Meanwhile, Vinayakan, another surprise pack of the film gave life to Gangan. Interesting, Manikandan lent his voice during a scene in Suriya-starrer ‘7 Arivu’ while working at Sangeeta Studios. The actor, who is waiting for the release of his first film ‘Lona’ has also signed a film which stars Prithviraj in the lead.
