Namitha Pramod is a young actress who is active in malayalam film industry. She started her career in television. Her popular films include ‘Traffic’, ‘Sound Thoma’, ‘Vikramadithyan’, ‘Chandrettan Evideya’ ‘Amar Akbar Antony’ and Adi Kapyare Koottamani’.
Namitha was born as the daughter of Mr. Pramod and Mrs Indu at Kumarakom, Kottayam, Kerala. Her father is a businessman, while mother a home maker. She has a younger sister Akhita Pramod. Namitha did her schooling at Carmel Girls Higher Secondary School in Thiruvananthapuram. She joined for a BA degree course in Sociology at St. Teresa’s College Ernakulam.
Namitha started her career in television while in seventh standard playing the role of Mathavu in the serial ‘Vellankanni Mathavu’. Her other serials are ‘Ente Manasaputhri’ and ‘Amme Devi’. Namitha made her acting debut in big screen with the film ‘Traffic’ directed by Rajesh Pillai’. She acted as Riya, the dying daughter of Rahman and Lena. Her next film was ‘Puthiya Theerangal’ helmed by Sathayan Anthikad. She went on playing the lead heroine roles in the films ‘Sound Thoma’, ‘Pullipuliyum Aattinkuttiyum’, ‘Law Point’, ‘Vikramadithyan’, ‘Villali Villain’, ‘Ormayundo Ee Mukham’, ‘Chandrettan Evideya’, ‘Amar Akbar Antony’ and ‘Adi Kapyare Kootamani’. Her telugu debut is ‘Kathalo Rajakumari’ directed by Mahesh Surapaneni.
For her acting brilliance in the film ‘Puthiya Theerangal’, Namitha won the Amrita Film Award for New Face of the Year. She was credited with the Asianet Film Award for Most Popular Actress for her role in the film ‘Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttiyum’. In 2015, Namitha won the Vanitha Film Award for Most Popular Actress for the films ‘Amar Akbar Antony’ and ‘Adi Kapyare Kootamani’.
