Riding on the huge success of films like ‘Premam’, Ennu Ninte Moideen’ and ‘Amar Akbar Antony’, the malayalam film industry is gearing up for a fresh Christmas season. Films of Mohanlal, Prithviraj and Nivin Pauly have been shifted to January as New Year releases. Starting with Dr. Biju’s ‘Valiyachirakulla Pakshikal’ and Suresh Gopi’s ‘My God’, this Christmas season is expected to bring fortune for the makers. ‘Puthiya Niyamam’, ‘Two Countries’, ‘Charlie’ and ‘Adi Kapyare Koottamani’ are the major releases during this Christmas.
Through the film ‘Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal’ (Birds With Large Wings) Dr Biju tries to tell the real-life events of a small village in Kasargod, Kerala, India. It’s a fictionalized representation of the environmental disaster caused by the misuse of endosulfan pesticide in Kasaragod. The film is presented from the viewpoint of a photographer played by Kunchacko Boban. Anumol play an activist at a United Nations conference. ‘Valiyachirakulla Pakshikal’ would reach theatres on 4th December 2015.
Filmmaker M Mohanan’s ‘My God’ narrates the mental conflicts faced by the present generation children due to the pressure from their parents. Suresh Gopi plays Adiraja Bhattadirippad, the CEO of an IT company based in America, Honey Rose as his wife Arya, a child psychologist, and Sreenivasan the parish priest Fr Vadakken. Joy Mathew, Indrans, Chali Pala, Kalabhavan Hanish and Lena are part of the cast. ‘My God’ will reach theatres on 4th December 2015.
A K Sajan’s ‘Puthiya Niyamam’ tells the tale of a married couple, who passes through tough time due to their marital life. It discusses iss ues relating to inter-caste marriage and its consequences. Mammootty will be seen as Adv. Louis Pothan, a strong follower of Communist ideologies, while Nayantara will play Louis Pothen’s wife, Vasuki. This film is slated for release on 17th December 2015.
‘Two Countries’ scripted by Raffi and directed by his brother Shafi is a triangle love story creamed with humour and suspense will be a complete entertainer. Mamta gives life to a Malayali woman settled in Canada. During her stay to Kerala she meets the character played by Dileep. He grabs the opportunity to migrate to Canada by marrying Mamta. Makaranth Desh Pande, Aju Varghese, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Ashokan, Mukesh, Shaju, Lena, Vinaya Prasad, Srinda Ashab will be seen in prominent roles. ‘Two Countries’ is all set for releasing on 17th December 2015.
Filmmaker Martin Prakkat’s third directorial venture ‘Charlie’ is a romantic entertainer with a difference. Dulquer Salmaan plays the hero, while Parvathy Menon will be seen as the female lead. Aparna Gopinath, Chemban Vinod Jose, Nedumudi Venu, Joju George, Renji Panicker, Shoubin Shahir, Sunil Sukhada, Tovino Thomas, Neeraj Madhav, Jacob Gregory, Ramesh Pisharod, Joy Mathew, Kannan Sagar, Kalpana and Seetha will also be seen in supporting roles. ‘Charlie’ is produced by Joju George, Shebin Becker and Martin Prakkatt under the banner of Finding Cinema. ‘Charlie’ is planned to release on 25th December 2015.
Adi Kapyare Kootamani
Directed by debutant John Varghese, the film titled ‘Adi Kappiyare Koottamani’ will be an out and out comedy entertainer. The film zooms into life of a group of youngsters portrayed by Dhyan, Aju and Neeraj. Namitha Pramod plays the lead lady, while Mukesh will also be seen in a pivotal role. The film is produced by Vijay Babu and Sandra Thomas under the banner Friday Film House. Meanwhile, Vijay will be seen in a non seen avatar in this fun roller coaster. This film would also be a Christmas delight for the film lovers.
